The Ministry of Community Development & Youth wishes you all a blessed new year and welcomes you back to our blog site for the year 2016.
This year the Ministry and the Department of Community Development is planning on a full overhaul of its operations and to implement some of in policies and bills.
It started off with a workshop organized the Department at Dixies Bangaloo -17Mile.
Dep. Secretary delivering his remarks after the opening
Delilah Gore the Minister for Religion, Youth and Community Development was invited to open the workshop with her speech of encouragement and vision for the Department aims and goals.
“The Community Development Department over the years was faced with so many criticisms concerning its operations. Even the public don't know much about the functions of the department and we need to market ourselves so we can be heard and seen for what we do.
We need to set policies that will work despite budget cuts which we could face this year. These are due to the drop in oil prices and export commodities. But there are other baskets available for us to source funds so we all need to work together despite our differences and in-house politics and the government will see that we are serious and committed to see the department deliver in terms of what its function was set to do.

Let us work together this year for the O’Neil Dion government is government that is serious in seeing development taking place in all sectors of the country’s administration. For we are, public servants and we are here to serve the public and not the other way around. Let’s serve our people!
Even though we have not function as team due to our office relocations for the last three years and other issues due that, we have passed some of the important bills.
  1. Lukautim Pikinini Act Bill
  2. National Youth Commission  Transition to Authority
  3. Disability Act Bill
Other issues of concern this year that will be given priorities among others are; the relocation of the Department’s office, establishment of Religion Office, NID and Social Protection which the Department’s Secretary, Anna Solomon has been tirelessly pursuing. Being a woman as its limitations but for one to take on such responsibilities diligently is very commendable. And so I take this opportunity to thank the Secretary and her Deputy Mr Leo Kulumbu for their leadership and the Divisional heads, Managers and staff for the remarkable efforts in the short span of time during my time with you all as the Minister in charge.

This year will be very challenging but if we remain vigilant and work hard as a team and set policies that are achievable with proper budget planning. I can assure as the Minister for Religion, Youth and Community that the government - our government will be more than willing to help us.

Thank you all once again and you all have a productive new year.”

HAPPY NEW PRODUCTIVE NEW YEAR  TO YOU ALL!
